Health and Safety: COVID-19 Vaccinations and masks are not required to attend MWRM 2022 but are highly suggested for all attendees, venders, and staff.

Dear Colleagues, Friends, Sponsors, and Exhibitors,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2022 Midwest Regional Meeting (MWRM) of the American Chemical Society.  We are excited that you can join us in Iowa City for four days of exciting science, great conversations, and opportunities to make new connections.  A big thank you to all our sponsors and be sure to check out our exposition during the meeting!

Our opening plenary speaker will be Professor Robert Hamers (University of Wisconsin (UW), Madison) who will be exploring impacts of nanomaterials within the context of global sustainability. We are also excited to co-host our closing plenary speaker, Professor Catherine Jackson (Oxford), with the Midwest Section of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society on Friday evening.  Professor Jackson will be discussing the importance of scientific glassblowing to chemical discoveries and will be joined by UW glassblower, Tracy Drier, for a hands-on demonstration.   We want to specifically welcome all of the scientific glassblowers who are joining us this year for our co-hosted programming. In addition, we will be celebrating the accomplishments of Dr. Theresa Windus (ACS Midwest awardee) and Mr. James Jarovski (ACS Division of Chemical Education Midwest Award for Excellence in High School Teaching).

Our meeting venue (The Graduate Hotel) is located in downtown Iowa City so please be sure to spend some time exploring the local shops and restaurants.  A list of local businesses in the area can be found here:  https://downtowniowacity.com/

If there is anything that you need during the meeting, please reach out to one of the meeting organizers.  We are very excited to have you in Iowa City for the 2022 MWRM meeting and hope you have a fun and engaging experience.

Sincerely,

Tori Forbes
